A Piecewise Affine Model for Image Registration in Nonrigid Motion Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
A piecewise-aÆne image registration method is proposed to compute the displacement eld in an image sequence of an aerodynamic object experiencing heavy winds in a wind tunnel. Our method is useful for tracking objects whose net 3-D motion is fully characterized by a non-rigid motion and a signi cant component that is common to all parts of the object. A set of control points have been introduced on the object surface to help divide each image into a set of triangles and enable tracking each triangular area. The computed velocity eld is piecewise aÆne for each triangle and is continuous across the boundary between any two adjacent triangles. Of interest is the accuracy of the registration process, and its estimate based on local moments and shape distortion that can be computed from the original image and the motion compensated version of its registered pair. The method has been applied to several images and the experimental results are presented.

Robust Structure from Motion in the Presence of Outliers and Missing Data
The paper preposes a new scheme to promote the robustness of 3D structure and motion factorization from uncalibrated image sequences. First, an augmented affine factorization algorithm is proposed to circumvent the difficulty in image registration with imperfect data. Then, an alternative weighted factorization algorithm is designed to handle the missing data and measurement uncertainties in th...
متن کاملNon-rigid Registration of Breast MR Images Using Mutual Information
We present a new approach for the non-rigid registration of contrastenhanced breast MRI using normalised mutual information. A hierarchical transformation model of the motion of the breast has been developed: The global motion of the breast is modelled using affine transformation models while the local motion of the breast is modelled using spline-based free-form deformation (FFD) models. The a...

2 Introduction Image registration aims to spatially align one image to another and establish point-to-point correspondences between the images. It is an active and important topic of research in medical image analysis because of its numerous applications including change detection in longitudinal studies, multi-modal image fusion, motion correction in time series, image-guided intervention, ana...
متن کاملNonrigid Image Registration with Subdivision Lattices: Application to Cardiac MR Image Analysis
In this paper we present a new methodology for cardiac motion tracking in tagged MRI using nonrigid image registration based on subdivision surfaces and subdivision lattices. We use two sets of registrations to do the motion tracking. First, a set of surface registrations is used to create and initially align the subdivision model of the left ventricle with short-axis and long-axis MR images. S...
متن کاملAffine Transformations and Atlases: Assessing a New Navigation Tool for Knee Arthroplasty
We propose a new guidance paradigm for computer-assisted orthopædic surgery, based on nonrigid registration of a patient to a standard atlas model. Such a method would save costs and time compared to CT-based methods, while being more reliable than current imageless navigation tools. Here, we consider application of this paradigm to knee arthroplasty. This work reports laboratory results of ass...
